Wacky MadLibs
(*backstory: I gave my sister-in-law a birthday card that had a page of Mad Libs on the front. THIS is what my brother and her created together last night - I laughed so hard I almost peed)
Dearest Oscar,
Happy birthday to the most creamy grocery store in the whole wide pumpkin! I hope all your balls come true on this dirty day. May your year be filled with joy and bastards. I hope you know how proud I am of what a/an sweaty helmet you have become. I can hardly believe you're turning 12 years old! My, how the pig-fuckers have flown. I hope you spend your special day doing something that will make you feel large. With any luck, you'll get that newfangled hat you've been saving for! Happy birthday, my darling school!
Hugs and highways,
Your friend Amy

For Jill and Ben
Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

My heart is so broken
I just found out that a friend of mine lost her dear, sweet daughter in a drowning accident yesterday. I am just beside myself right now. What a horrible tragedy! I'm hugging my babies a little tighter tonight. And praying for another family who is dealing with such an immense, horrific loss.
Rest in peace, Penny.
Rest in peace, Penny.
Song lyrics of the day
We were caught on the inside
Left it all on that bedside
Give me one more minute with those baby blues
We pull up
Oh she looks back and waves as I wait too long
I can picture her room as a lights turn on
I'm still dancing alone with the way it was
I'm still dancing alone with the way it was
Give me one more
Give me one more
Give me one more minute with my baby
Give me one more
Give me one more
Give me one more minute with American secrets
-"American Secrets", Parachute
Left it all on that bedside
Give me one more minute with those baby blues
We pull up
Oh she looks back and waves as I wait too long
I can picture her room as a lights turn on
I'm still dancing alone with the way it was
I'm still dancing alone with the way it was
Give me one more
Give me one more
Give me one more minute with my baby
Give me one more
Give me one more
Give me one more minute with American secrets

While I'm at it and posting American Idol runner-up videos...
I saw a friend from high school recently and this little guy (David Archuleta) always reminded me of him. Granted, my friend is a grown man now and has a wife and a child, but he'll always be the freshman guy that I had a huge crush on as a senior. :)

Thought for the day
I'm in the midst of 9 implementations at work. NINE! The most I have ever done at once was 2... so you can imagine what that must be like. As such, 4 of them launch on Saturday and another one within the month, so I can finally get some breathing room! Whew!

The List
I want to start a list of all of the things I would like to pursue once I am done with graduate school. I have zero free time for myself and there are so many things I want to do and learn! I will keep adding to this list from time to time.
1. Continue with Piano lessons
2. Take Cross Fit classes
3. Complete a half marathon
4. Read FOR FUN
5. Start dancing again at Inis Cairde
6. Sing in the choir at church
7. (more to come!)

Hell to the YES
I just signed up for biweekly housecleaning. It's going to cost me less than $100 every two weeks to have my house be sparkling clean. I am SO excited that I have one less thing to do! I mean, don't get me wrong - I clean my house more frequently than every 14 days... but I won't be cleaning showers every weekend because I don't HAVE to! YAY!

Color Me Rad!
I just signed up for my next 5k race. It's in October and it's called the Color Me Rad 5k. So much fun! Check it out here!
GPOY(looking like a complete idiot)W
Checking out Mr Tony's awesome 3D TV! Nevermind the bad posture and the fact that I'm in my beach cover up... but how completely INTO this movie are we?!
(And for the record, we were watching the Smurfs!)

Song lyrics of the day
Cause you, you’ve been on my mind
And I wish you were here
Beside me tonight lying in this bed
Cause I, I’m just not the same
I walk down these streets; I swear I hear your name
But it’s just in my head
I wish you were in my arms instead
-"In my arms instead", Randy Rogers Band
*I've been digging this band lately - you should check them out too!

Hey, remember that time when...
... we had a crazy road trip adventure in your friend's beat up car?
... we played drinking games in college at your friend's apartment?
... we fell asleep in your room with your arms wrapped around me in a vice-like death grip?
... we stayed up all night talking on the phone?
... we counted the days until I came to visit?
... we didn't manage to get out of bed all day?
... we danced on the empty dancefloor and didn't care that it was just the two of us?
... we went on our second "real" first date?
... you let me drive your truck?
... I cried when you drove back to LA?
Man, I can't get it all out of my head today.

Mind blown
The nerd in me just rejoiced. THIS is one of the coolest things I have seen in a very long time!
What a nightmare!
I have many random "super powers", but one of my most favorite ones (usually) is the ability to remember my dreams in vivid details. It's normally a blessing because some of the dreams I have are so real that I'm thankful they happen, even if it's only in my head. They are the only chance I get to be with my sister or my other loved ones again. And even if it's only for a brief moment, that is usually enough to sustain me.
Last night, however, was another story. I dreamt I was being ATTACKED by two scary men. I used to try and figure out what my dreams meant or why I would have a certain person in my dreams, but I can say with absolute certainty that I have no idea who these guys were, and it would probably serve me best to not know why on earth they were attacking me and attempting to kidnap me.
The one takeaway from this dream that I am most proud of was that I was doing my best to fight them off. Ladies, you ALWAYS put up a fight. They won't want to mess with you if they know you're going to be trouble!! I know that if this ever happened in real life that I know how to actually HIT someone and I would have been doing the same thing, but I was so frustrated in my dream that I couldn't land a single punch. NOT ONE. And I tried and tried to do that. Ugh.
(I'm sure in hindsight that my husband probably appreciated the fact that I didn't land a punch because it probably would have been him that got nailed, had I been successful.)

Weekend update
On friday afternoon, we loaded up the kids and headed down to visit a friend's parents for the weekend in Myrtle Beach, SC. Jan and Tony were one of my adopted families when I was in college and their daughter Pam and I were really good friends. It's been a while since we all hung out and so this beach weekend was planned and I've been looking forward to it since March!
The weather was great on Saturday morning, so we headed out to the beach. My children are beach bums and would stay out there all day if I let them.
After the beach, we headed back to the house to eat lunch and let the little ones take a nap. There was some pool time for the big kids (and adults) but thankfully there were no pictures of that! ;)
After naps, a rain delay and then finally showers, the kids decided they wanted to play some billiards on Mr Tony's big table. They had a blast!
After we went out to dinner at one of the local joints, we had enough time for a ride on Mr Tony's pontoon boat. Jan and Tony live in a beautiful neighborhood called Plantation Lakes, and there's a long lake/canal type thing that weaves in and out all through the neighborhood. So we loaded all the kids up on the boat and went for a ride.
Captain Tyler driving the boat!
The whole crew!

Brier played in the surf (or lack thereof) for most of the morning. He was either throwing a football or body surfing for several hours. I wish I had the energy level this child has. No wonder he's so skinny.
Tyler spent most of the morning running up and down the shoreline. He made Dad take him for a walk and they played in the tide pools along the beach.
This is the first trip to the beach since Tyler has been born that I actually got to sit in a chair and enjoy myself! I took it all in... who knows when I will get back down to the coast this year.

And like usual, there's always time for self portraits. I think my children have decided they will never take a "normal" picture with their Mommy again.
See?

We had such a blast and cannot wait to go back and visit again. Thanks for the hospitality Jan and Tony!

Oh my aching head
I woke up this morning with a sinus pressure headache and the worst sluggish feeling I have had in years. This cold of mine has turned into a full blown sinus something-or-rather. I feel like absolute SHIT and I don't want to even attempt to sugar coat it.
As such, these are my traveling companions this afternoon.
Flying with a head cold is the definition of hell on earth. For reals.

You can find me in St Louayyyy...
(Warning: NOT SAFE FOR WORK)
I'm flying out tomorrow to go to a client event in St. Louis, MO. I haven't ever been to St. Louis before, so I'm looking forward to crossing Missouri off my list of states I've been to. But I can't help myself... I've been singing this Nelly song for weeks since I realized where I was going. Luckily, my coworker Ninos is going on this trip with me, and he knows this song too. So it's our gangsta theme song for the trip. If you know either of us, we are the anti-gangstas. Which makes it even funnier!
Enjoy!

Song lyrics of the day
I can't remember why we fell apart
From something that was so meant to be, yeah
Forever was the promise in our hearts
Now, more and more I wonder where you are
Do I ever cross your mind, anytime
Do you ever wake up reaching out for me
Do I ever cross your mind anytime
I miss you
Still have your picture in a frame
Hear your footsteps down the hall
I swear I hear your voice, driving me insane
How I wish that you would call
To say
Do I ever cross your mind, anytime
Do you ever wake up reaching out for me
Do I ever cross your mind anytime
I miss you

Better known as "The only picture safe for the internet after your ladies night out." And that's a stretch...
Hello armpit. Thanks for coming to the party. Wendi and I stopped shaking our booties on the dancefloor long enough for this to be taken. You're welcome, Cyber world.

Sigh...
I'm sick. I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and I thought it was just a side effect of going out to see live music on Saturday night and yelling over the top of it. Nope. The sneezes came on last night, accompanied by the runny nose. I woke up this morning and feel like I've been hit by a truck. Who in the heck gets the cold/flu in August? THIS GIRL.
All I want to do is go back to bed and sleep. I need some chicken soup and I need a cold, dark room.

Anyone want to come over and cuddle?
