This may come across as a bit morbid, but here it goes... So ever since my sister died and I had the task of planning her funeral, I often daydream about what will happen at my own. Will my family play happy songs or will it be a tragic passing and everyone is crying? I truly hope that whatever happens, I am remembered in a happy light and there's lots of laughter and reminiscing about happier times. I came across this image on Pinterest and I've decided that no matter what, I want this on the memorial program.

Old friends are the best friends
I got together with these crazy Richlands girls last night and it makes me laugh to see how far we all have come. I can't wait to do it again!

Nostalgia
You want a real trip down memory lane? Spend an entire Saturday morning (and the two weeks prior, off and on) uploading all of your CDs to iTunes. MAN, I forgot about so many of the songs on these CDs. I had a few good laughs when I realized how much I really liked boy bands in the 2000-2002 time frame, and I realized exactly how thug I was. Dr Dre and Tu-Pac anyone?

Another breakdown
I had a complete emotional breakdown this afternoon. When I say complete I'm talking crying, tears, almost hyperventilating kind of breakdown. By myself in my office.
I AM SO OVERWHELMED lately that I don't know what to do and I don't see an end in site for it any time soon. Sigh... I wish I knew how to handle stress better.

Song lyrics of the day
Everytime I see you all the rays of the sun
Are streaming through the waves in your hair
And every star in the sky is taking aim at your eyes
Like a spotlight
The beating of my heart is a drum and it's lost
And it's looking for a rhythm like you
You can take the darkness from the pit of the night
And turn into a beacon burning endlessly bright
I've gotta follow it 'cause everything I know
Well it's nothing till I give it to you
-"Making love out of nothing at all" Air Supply
Are streaming through the waves in your hair
And every star in the sky is taking aim at your eyes
Like a spotlight
The beating of my heart is a drum and it's lost
And it's looking for a rhythm like you
You can take the darkness from the pit of the night
And turn into a beacon burning endlessly bright
I've gotta follow it 'cause everything I know
Well it's nothing till I give it to you

Confession
It has been three days since my last soda.
I have chosen to substitute every piece of Valentine's Day candy I can get my hands on to replace the sugar. I can't win in this house.

Tale as old as time
My son Tyler told me today that I looked like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. He said we had the same hairdo. What do you think?

I want my MTV
Last night we had our friend Tom come over and help us install an above-the-stove microwave oven. We have the normal kind that sits on the counter, and when we had the realtor come through and suggest things to do to get the house ready to put on the market, that was one of the little things he suggested to try.
I heard "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits today and I couldn't stop laughing.
"We got to install microwave ovens. Custom kitchen deliveries!"

Can anybodyyyyyyyyy....
Today's selection for "getting caught singing in the shower": Somebody to Love by Queen.
Song lyrics of the day
She wears a white dress
She sees the lights and it's saying come back
She's out the door but she hasn't left yet
And I start believing her when she says that
The city's gonna save her
-"White dress" Parachute
She sees the lights and it's saying come back
She's out the door but she hasn't left yet
And I start believing her when she says that
The city's gonna save her

Song lyrics of the day
I thought it was clear
The plan was we would share
This feeling just between ourselves
But when the music changed
The plan was re-arranged
He went to dance with someone else
- "Let the Music Play" Shannon
*side note - does this song remind anyone else of going to the skating rink?

But when the music changed
The plan was re-arranged
He went to dance with someone else

Sometimes...
...Sometimes it takes an hour long lunch with someone going through a rough time to really remind yourself how good things are right now. I mean REALLY good. Thank you God for my crazy life. And forgive me if I don't love it enough sometimes.

I hate writing papers
I have three more papers to write in this class. I have three more classes to take, and more than likely each one of those classes is going to require me to write 5 papers each. That's another 18 more papers I have to write to finish grad school. I mean, WHAT THE FUCK? I am so sick of writing that I don't even enjoy writing simple things for clients for work. I don't even want to write out birthday cards, or even do blog posts anymore because they require writing. Geez I'm so burnt out...

TarHeel wisdom
(While watching the Top 50 Jordan Moments on ESPN this morning)
Brier: "So Mom, there's really NO ONE as good as him, huh?"
Me: "No baby, not even close."

Five for Friday
1. I tried the "shamrock shake" from McDonalds. I'm convinced that was a vanilla shake with some really bad green food coloring. In other words, yuck. Don't try it.
2. I'm having my stairwell in my house painted tomorrow. That might not seem like a big deal and whatnot, but seeing as how I've pretty much painted every single wall in this entire 3,000 square foot house, I wasn't about to climb on a ladder and practically kill myself to finish the stairwell and landing upstairs. So yeah, it's kind of a big deal that I'm going to be alive for quite a while longer.
3. I had a spa day with my sister's best friend yesterday. It might not have been Heather, but it damn sure was the closest thing to actually being with my sister. I haven't laughed that hard in MONTHS.
4. I joined weight watchers last week. I have managed to actually "track" my points for only 4 days. I somehow lost 4 pounds. I'd call that a win!
5. I love comments on my blog. Are you a blog stalker? Leave me some love! ;)

Texas is awesome
I was sent this article from a friend today and it made me all the more excited for going back to visit Texas this summer. I have to admit, I loved living in the Lone Star state, but it's not as awesome in my book as North Carolina. Still, you should check it out!

Update on my neighbor
So a few weeks back I wrote about my neighbor across the street who lost her husband to cancer. I was really worried about her and how well she was going to do because it was pretty clear from the last 7 years that their marriage was one of total dominance. I am happy to report that she is THRIVING in the wake of her tragedy. Not only have she and her daughter been playing outside and friendly and smiling more than I've ever seen, she is doing normal things like learning HOW TO DRIVE and gardening. I hope that her tragedy continues to drive positive and happy moments in her life. And maybe, just maybe... she might actually speak to us one day. :)

I took the boys to a UNC basketball game last night against Wake Forest and we had the best time! Brier gets the biggest kick out of telling me he is going to every school EXCEPT UNC and last night was no exception. In the span of 5 hours, he told me he was going to Miami, Florida, NC State and Maryland. I told him that I hope he got a scholarship because I wouldn't pay for any of them! HA!
Either way, he's a picture of me and the future Tar Heel...

Love Notes
My cousins will never realize how much I treasure messages like this. They do an amazing job filling the empty space my sister left behind. I am so lucky to have family like this!
So...
Song Lyrics of the Day
Would you look at her
She looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured out
I'm crazy for this girl
- "Crazy for this girl" Evan and Jaron
She looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured out
I'm crazy for this girl

Five for Friday
1. I just ate a spoonful of leftover vanilla frosting out of the fridge, and I almost GAGGED at how sweet it was. Whoa. Leah, how on earth do you eat that??
2. It's so cold here this week that getting undressed to get in the shower is the last thing on earth I want to do.
3. Apparently there's a big football game going on this weekend. I'm a Cowboys fan so I don't really give a shit. Although I do love to watch the commercials.
4. Today was Day 1 of No Fast Food February. So far so good!
5. I just was scheduled to host a "jeans" party in March. You know, it's just like those other home parties where you buy jewelry or monogrammed tote bags or overpriced cooking stuff, but this one you get to try on fancy pants! In my quest for none of my friends to wear Mom Jeans, I am taking this up a whole other level. If you want to come, let me know! Fancy pants for everyone!
