Time for one of "those" posts

As Ferris Bueller said, "Life moves pretty fast...if you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it."

I had one of those moments today.  It's been a crazy, hectic few months and so much stuff has been happening in my life and around me.  My best friend's mom passed away.  My cousin had a baby.  A good friend finally let herself love again.  A friend got a promotion.  My husband is graduating from his program at Carolina.  Things are just HAPPENING left and right and I took a minute to take a step back and say "Whoa, time!  SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!"

But you know what?  It won't.  So I better pay attention.

Tonight I took my youngest son out to dinner.  Just him and I.  We went to his favorite restaurant (Jason's Deli!) and we had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and ate chocolate ice cream.  And we laughed!  And we crossed our eyes and made faces across the table.  And I realized that despite all of the struggles in my life, the regrets, the disappointments, the stress... I actually have it pretty darn good.  My life is good. 

And that makes me so very happy.

True Confession Tuesday

I've spent the day listening to the saddest love songs I could find.  It's freeing to just cry it out sometimes.  It feels like I'm actually MOURNING though.

UNC is heading back to the College World Series for the 6th time in the last 8 seasons!  While that is exciting in and of itself, I wanted to give a shout out to our rivals down the road, the NC State Wolfpack.  Those guys hung on to win a tough one and will be meeting the Tar Heels in the first round in Omaha on Sunday. 

(OK that's the extent of me being polite).

GPOY(freaking awesome beach weekend)W

So I went down to Topsail Island this past weekend with 9 of my girlfriends for our annual beach weekend.  There were LOTS of laughs to be had, lots of alcohol to be drunk, and lots of fake Sports Illustrated bikini pictures to be taken (new post to follow with those).  I wanted to share a few pictures from the weekend because we had such a blast.

I saw this in a shop down at the beach.  It became a theme for the weekend.

It's tradition for just a handful of us to be there on the first night.  Clearly those that hang out on the first night have the MOST fun.

The weather was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous.  There was hardly a cloud in the sky and we all got lots of sun.  Some more than others!  Oops!

 This is the entire group (except Heather - she came down the following night).

The couple next to us was surf fishing and kept catching these little baby sharks.  My drunk ass wanted to hold one.  Shark Bait - Ooh HAHA.
