Fuck you, Monday

To say that today was a shitty day was the understatement of the century.

Today started out with a trip to Tyler's foot doctor in Chapel Hill.  What I thought was a routine check up turned into him getting a cast on each leg, all the way from his foot to his knees.  That was followed by ordering new braces for him.  For the record, we already have $2000 braces that apparently didn't work.  Now we're on to the next set.  Yippee.

As if THAT was bad enough, I was on the phone with Jayson telling him everything that had happened at the doctor and a guy in front of me stopped short and I rear-ended him.  Everyone appears to be fine, but the jerk mentioned he was having lower back pain and insisted on filing a police report.  The cop was even annoyed that he bothered to call. 

Could this day get any worse?

The highlight of my day

A good friend of mine told me about Stitch Fix which is an online service that helps you find new styles and fashions, from the comfort of your own home.  Basically, how it works is that you fill out your style profile, show them examples of the kinds of clothes you like and the things you currently wear, then you choose the styles you would like them to send to you.

Their stylists will pick out items they think you’ll love—sometimes a little out of your comfort zone, but that’s part of the fun - and then send them to you.  You try everything on and decide what to keep and what to send back.  Cool right??  

I got my first box in the mail and I can tell you right now, I'm totally hooked.

Braces update

I literally feel like I am dying.  I want to rip these things off my teeth.

So apparently none of my friends have ever noticed that I have crooked teeth.  I find that a bit hard to believe, considering my front teeth overlap and everything on the bottom row is facing a different direction.

Anyhow, I got braces today.  I'm doing a program called "6 month smiles" and they are designed for adults with "cosmetic" issues.  In other words, if you have a bite problem, sorry pal, it's going to take you longer than 6 months.  Mine are actually going to take anywhere from 8-10 months because of this front tooth.

I am being brave here and posting my BEFORE pictures.  I can't wait to see the difference when I get these taken off in the April/May timeframe.

Wow - this absolutely made my day

 I don't do things like this because I want recognition.  I send cards to friends because they really need a positive and encouraging surprise.  Today, the favor was returned when I saw this posted on facebook from a friend that I sent this card too. 

 I cried tears of joy that it actually helped.  :)

Dammit Taylor

I have this weird curse where every time I go see a band, they never sing the ONE song I want to hear.  Bon Jovi constantly does this to me (I mean, COME ON - would it kill you to play Always just once?!).   Well Taylor Swift did it to me too.  Wahhhhh...


I wanted to hear Back to December.  So I've had it on repeat for like 5 straight days.  Sigh...

I've been saying THIS for years.  Everyone acts so entitled and like they're so special.  Especially the younger kids coming into the workforce nowadays and it drives me nuts!  Stop thinking that you deserve everything your parents worked 20 years for in the first 5 years of your career.

The Beach: A recap

I know, I know.  I've been back for almost a week and haven't posted a single picture from the beach!  Sorry, I've been slammed with work.  So here you go, a ton of pictures, just because.

 The children were able to get into the hot tub a few times because we forgot to close the lid.  Oops, but yay!

We checked out Jockey's Ridge for the first time.  Brier turned around and said "Welcome to Eqypt!"

The boys enjoyed their time on the beach.  They did not enjoy all the pictures I was taking.

So I took selfies instead.

Except this goober.  He loves the beach - and having his picture taken.

 

Jessica had these awesome cups made for us.  They came in super handy!

We can't wait for the next trip back to the ocean!
